Body Mass Index

... is defined as a person's body mass in kilograms, divided by the square of their body height in metres. It is intended to show how suitable a person's weight is, given their height. A value between 18.5 and 25 is considered to be normal; less than 18.5 indicates that the person is underweight, more than 25 is overweight, and more than 30 indicates obesity.

For example: for a person of 1.7 metres, a body mass of between 53.5 kg and 72.2 kg is normal; more than 87.8 kg is obese.
